Just dropped this in my conservative friend chat. Can't wait to see what happens.

[–] TheSecondVariety@lemmy.ca 3 points 17 hours ago

You mean when they're totally ok with it? :-(

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yeah voting conservative is a fast track to fucking up everything left that's good about BC.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The conservatives will take away social housing, old growth and healthcare.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 day ago

Pensions too. They will rip the copper from the walls.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Did anyone watch the debate? It's crazy how many people in their party had outrageous comments and views on things... especially racism lol.

I know they won't win, and they've never (?) been in power, but the only one of the 3 in the debate that I actually agreed with was the greens :S

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 hours ago

Yeah the Greens are the only ones living on the same planet as me.

they failed in alberta with danielle, but they want to ruin BC to, quebec is next?

[–] Smaile@lemmy.ca 1 points 8 hours ago

Quebec is already not siding with America and the sepratists leader their already said any action regarding separation won't happen till Trump is gone. Thats a fairly clear statement of intent that Quebec isn't interested in america

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 4 points 19 hours ago

They will keep trying until we back the unions to 51% of workers.

Too bad Eby "Wasn't interested" in implementing proportional representation. We wouldn't be in this mess if wasn't such an idiot. Oh well, guess we'll have to vote for him again..............................................................

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Everyone will tout representational to get power, then do nothing about it to retain said power.

[–] TheSecondVariety@lemmy.ca 2 points 17 hours ago

I've said it for a while; nobody wants to replace the system that got them into power.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

Join a third party and push for prorep after this election no which way the results go.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 5 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, they see that as a feature, not a bug.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

And many bc voters are wanting to jump into the cliff of perfectionism wanting to spite vulnerable people by voting bc conservatives because the bc ndp wasn’t perfect.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

To be honest, I would just like to be able to vote Green again, and not have to worry about the whole province burning to the ground because of it.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 4 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Proportional representation must first come before we all vote with our hearts. We need to pressure both big parties to improve democracy by passing the 2004 citizen’s assembly in electoral reform’s chosen system of the single transferable vote.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 3 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Eby's already said he's against it, and the Conservatives would never support it. Which means, we have no pressure to apply, unless we all collectively vote for our 1st choice, consequences be damned.

The problem with BC politics at the moment, is that the NDP has effectively abandoned the working class. And unfortunately, the vacuum they left behind is being filled by Conservatives, who are disingenuously promising to represent us. And even more unfortunately...most Conservatives believe they will.

Just look at the options in my riding. We have a lawyer, a bank manager, and a union representative. Guess which one is the Conservative and which one is the NDP. I'll give a hint...neither one of them is the union representative.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I think the green vote is best in:

  1. Saanich North and the Islands
  2. West Vancouver-Sea to Sky
  3. Victoria-Beacon Hill
  4. Juan de Fuca-Malahat
  5. Kootenay Central
  6. Oak Bay-Gordon Head
  7. Courtenay-Comox

Than strategically vote ndp everywhere else.

Thank you! I wish there was some way to broadcast this list to everyone voting in those races.

Last time around, people were stupid enough to vote NDP in ridings where the race was closest between the Greens and Conservatives...which inadvertently threw the race to the Conservative candidate, instead.

People need to be very careful to check the polling before they vote.

(Correction)...I was thinking of the last Federal election, so it was actually the NDP that lost seats to Conservatives, because folks voted Liberal in ridings where the NDP could have won. My mistake.

If the jan 6ers were antifa why did trump pardon them?

[–] rabber@lemmy.ca 4 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

They will win. Bye bye cheap car insurance.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 4 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Bye bye healthcare and stability.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 1 points 18 hours ago

Yeah, I'll take higher car insurance over higher healthcare.

[–] rabber@lemmy.ca 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I live in victoria and don't have those things anyway.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Do you have a family doctor and what is unstable?

[–] rabber@lemmy.ca 2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

No, of course I don't. 8 years here and no doc.

The housing market and job market here are not stable

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)
[–] rabber@lemmy.ca 2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Oh geez thanks. Admittedly I gave up looking a few years ago. I should get back on it.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Please keep trying friend, weekly and monthly if you can.

[–] rabber@lemmy.ca 0 points 19 hours ago

Do you mind if I ask where in BC you are? Out of curiosity

[–] BC_viper@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There are no good ones in that party.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

As a green supporter, I voted BC NDP this time around.

[–] BC_viper@lemmy.world 0 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I live in the north. It literally doesnt matter who I vote for. Its 90% con win everytime.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 4 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

It’s still worth voting.

[–] BC_viper@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Definitely will. I just know it wont matter.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 19 hours ago

When I lived in a 80% conservative riding, their supporters got really mad at me for not agreeing with them. What does that tell you.
