hey, I put the effort into handling the stick shift while driving, what could be more manly than reaching over and grabbing a knob and gently rocking it back and forth, up and down?

I'll say this instead. It's very important because people shall be responsible for their own actions. The great power can only come if he bares great responsibility. Driving or riding a motorcycle, in my opinion, is wielding something powerful way beyong humans' league, and shall be strictly regulated.
