I can’t remember where it was but the best review I ever read of the orig. MR2 started with, “Imagine a Fiat X19 built by people who give a shit.”
I had a second gen 3sge hardtop. And a 1zz turbo spider i miss both dearly.
That mk1 with the supercharger is truly special.
Now a days I slow roll a gx460 overlander but eyeing a Supra or GR Corolla. I miss going fast.
The electric clutch on the super charger was a pretty cool thing. Only activated when you put your foot down. So you still got great mpg….most of the time haha.
The mr2 will always remain special to me.
I keep looking back at getting a 80s/90s JDM something but 1) they’re soooooo fucking expensive now and 2) I’m all in on EV and I feel like I’d be taking a step back for a gas car. Plus EV performance is just so much better I’d be like, why am I doing this?
I plan to keep a gas car for fun when I eventually go EV.
I’m waiting for a proper Lexus or Toyota EV. Although their plug in hybrids are looking enticing. I have another few years for my kids to get out of their car seats so I have some time.
To me, I’m like “why”
My Tesla is faster than any car I’ve ever owned. Including modded turbocharged mr2 and rx7s
¯_(ツ)_/¯

The shape of EVIL!
God damn I love it.
Had a second gen 3sgte
But always dreamed of a non rusted out 89 4agze. Could never find one. And this was back in 2001
Of the three I’ve seen in person they were all clapped out. They got used up and rustproofing in the 80’s wasn’t the best.
A friend of mine swapped out a 4age for a 3sgte. He was able to get the MR2 after selling his BMW 335i old coil overs lol.
Want.
Also, I love that boxy is back.
That is one chunky ass
One of the most gorgeous cars to ever exist.
Keep her clean, those cars are iconic
Love these cars! In 1-2 years, I might buy a last gen MR-2 when I get my girlfriend to sell her Peugeot 208.
