Did anyone manage to find a setup to run Minecraft VR on the frame standalone ? Ideally with Prism Launcher (Even tough I know flatpak will have some limitations)

Plain Minecraft with Prism just work on the Frame btw, just the VR mod don't seems to be able to hook into SteamVR.

Would love to know if someone managed to play MCVR on the Frame standalone and how to get it working! :)

SOLVED : By using the AppImage version of Prims Launcher, then creating a new Fabric instance, then installing Vivecraft and Sodium manually, it works and launches without issues!

There is also the VR Ultimate modpack that works, however this one is still in 26.2 for now.

QuestCraft launches but when I try to launch actual Minecraft it complains about a ton of missing libraries. But that doesn't look like an unsolvable problem to me.

You can add non-Steam games to Steam for use with Lepton with the steamos-add-to-steam commandline script. You just have to modify it to allow files of the type "application/vnd.android.package-archive". To modify it you could copy the script from /usr/bin to your home (like ~/.local/bin) and call it there.

I've also tried the Prism route without any luck so far. Will try again when I find the energy.

Well if you find an easy way to get it working feel free to tell us :D

Yup, but it just does not work, just getting a Failed to initialize VR message. The logs are not more descriptive either...

Ooh, saving the post because that will be the #1 thing that I'm doing once my frame arrives.

But my guess would be that adding your Minecraft instance to steam as a non-steam game and launching it from there might help. Also maybe give GDLauncher a shot? That has always worked best for me for MCVR (altough it has always been in a PCVR situation so far haha)

Hi, thanks for the recommendation!

However, GDLauncher only work on X86 computers and will not run on the Frame, until they build it for the Frame.

you could run it through FEX

Maybe if you add it to Steam there is an option to use Fex under the compatibility section (where you also select the proton version)?

[–] Krafting@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

didn't find the option to use FEX in the compatibility section, only Proton and Lepton :/
