Not so fun fact: There is an actual condition which leads to the inability to recognize objects, called visual agnosia. People who suffer from it often adapt by analyzing the abstract shapes around them in order to cope.
I'd say our boy is experiencing an advanced version of the Tetris effect rather than brain damage β the joke being this is a result of being so overexposed to math.

InB4 a bunch of people comment that they think they have visual agnosia because they don't recognize X. In fact, they don't recognize certain objects because they have the life experience of a baby prawn and are hoping they are special and different from everyone else in some definable way.

Have you ever looked at a word and the longer you look at it the more misspelled it seems? Like, that can't be the correct spelling of "suspicions", right? Also, unsupported belief was what I was going for. In the vein of "I Googled my symptoms and I suspect I have cancer"
