We are excited to begin rolling out F-Droid 2.0 to users over the coming weeks after 14 test releases.
F-Droid
F-Droid is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install, and keep track of updates on your device.
IzzyOnDroid is an F-Droid style repository for Android apps, provided by IzzyOnDroid. Applications in this repository are official binaries built by the original application developers, taken from their resp. repositories (mostly Github).
Oh shit! This might actually get me back on the official f-droid client, I'm excited to try it out!
I love Droidify so much I'd be kinda sad to let it go, but yes - this sounds great!
Yeah, droidify is what ive been using. I love the simplicity, though theres some occasional minor jank. We'll see where I decide to primarily stay, the new official f-droid app has felt great so far! ☺️
Just updated the app to try it and I'm loving it. It actually feels good to use now. :D
does app pages will get RSS?
upd: my bad, i thought web is updated. I'm sorry
I skimmed the news, does anyone know if I already have Fdroid in an attempt to escape the custom apps lockdown, that I need to install this newest version or get locked down?
No, the lockdown will happen regardless.
so I won't even be able to install apps through Fdroid1 or Fdroid 2?
They will be blocked when you try installing them, yeah :/
Google's services will check on install of application, if it is verified. If I am not wrong. It fucking sucks.
god FUCKING damnit
This page has a bunch of info on the topic and has the instructions on what to do if you want to keep using f-droid etc
Google's "escape hatch" is a trap door
This section?
Yes, exactly
Thank you
Seeing that the "advanced flow" is part of google play and not the android OS is such a fucking red flag. I assumed it would be part of the OS
