I never really followed Macklemore before, and I never listened to him either, but I'm familiar with the chorus to this one, and it's neat. TIL the video features a DeLorean (the car made famous in Back to the Future).

You probably already know why we're featuring Macklemore on the dbzer0 music comm. Macklemore spoke up for Palestine, and Ed Sheeran dropped him from his tour, and Sheeran's other musicians quit in protest.

I get it. Ed Sheeran wants to be all-inclusive, but when one side wants to wipe an entire civilisation out because their skin is brown and they pray differently, there's no right side to that. No one's threatening Israel's interests, it's just Israel killing Palestinians, and I'm sure Palestine is fighting back, but they're fighting to survive, they aren't fighting to erase every Israeli from the world like Israel is doing to them. You can be Jewish, or not, and support the rights of Jews to exist. You can even support Israel's right to be a free and independent nation, and that's all well and good, but you cannot both be a good person in any sense, and support the Israeli genocide of Palestine. It's unjustifiable, it's beyond the pale, and supporting it in the name of inclusion isn't inclusion at all.

So no, I've never been a fan of Macklemore's music. It's not really my thing. But he's been a wonderful human being the last week or so, and an example to all of us, and that's why he's being highlighted here. Because I always want to do better than I did the day before, and I like to highlight those who I feel do the same, or who make music that inspires us to do the same.
