Having a so deeply integrated economy with a crazy dangerous violent unpredictable neighbour like the USA was always a mistake. The EU, just because it's a coalition, was always a much more logical partnership, even with the obstacles. And obviously the first and best thing to do for every country is having a strong independent local economy. I was in protests againsts all this so called global economy 25 years ago, and everything we predicted would happened did. But hey, it's capitalism bitches, the market is always right.
