For what it's worth, you can disable this in the "Page Summaries" section of your settings.
That's no excuse though, I'm with you. This bullshit should be opt-in, not just randomly appear and require work on my part to make it go away. Or at least have a "never show again" option immediately available in the popup.
I hate the yes vs not now choices. I use DoorDash maybe once a month or two when we're having a lazy night in, and every time I open it (including to check the order progress of an order I just made) it prompts me to turn on notifications. Yes or not now. Here, I'll grab it now.

The thing is, I have notifications on!

I will "never miss an order update" as they say because it's allowed, I've only turned off the million ads they want to send me. These companies constantly being as shitty as possible is getting to me more and more these days.
I try to miss order updates but it doesn’t seem to matter. Whether I see them or not, eventually there’s someone banging on my door with a bag of cold food.
I need the updates. My apartment door is a few minutes and a card-locked lift ride away from the street, even if they could get to me I wouldn't expect anyone to go that far. It's not like I could just note the estimated delivery time and be ready for that, I've had more punctual doctor's appointments than the average food delivery.
Firefox mobile recently gave me a similarly shitty pop-up ad for their vpn:

What is infuriating? I don't read German.
Shake to ai summarize help text.
"Shake to ai"
Is that in itself an ai mistranslation?
Everything can be verbed. Any word can be used as the act of doing said thing in english.
No, that is English being hard to parse. "Shake to (apply the action) 'ai summarise' (to the) help text".
Edit: though I have no idea where "help text" came from.
I don’t get it
Yeah because OP missed out on translating the pop up. It says "Shake your device to summarize". So OP complains (rightfully) that Mozilla pushed AI summaries without asking him to opt-in into that function/pop-up.
Is it infuriating because the software hasn’t detected the main page language and has displayed the warning in another language?
No, i'm german. But the alt text of the picture has a english description.
