  4. No manipulating votes via bots or alt accounts; this will result in permanent bans. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in an account ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be permanently banned.

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules and use critical thinking when reading, posting, and commenting. Users that repeatedly have comments or posts removed, weaponize reports, or violate the code of conduct, will be banned.

We've had vote by mail for a very long time here in Colorado.

The stupid right wing chuds, even in this state, decided to politicize vote by mail, especially around Covid. They were super-salty - and still are - about other states even temporarily having vote by mail during a freaking pandemic. They think something was taken from them by this.

What every person should have learned from the pandemic was that every state should have vote by mail, because it works.

Nope, instead, all the Karens cheered the fact that states that had it temporarily yanked it away ASAP, and are still trying to retcon the 2020 election AND steal away the right from states already have it.

Conservatives are a poison. They ruin everything.

Fair point. They view their conservative privileges as a right and when they get de-privileged, they tend to misinterpret that as being disenfranchised.

As a Colorado resident, voting "by mail" as in, receiving a ballot in the mail and then dropping it at a ballot drop box, has been the only way I've ever voted.

It's a great, low-friction system. I've never dealt with crowds nor had any trouble with ballot box access.

The only issue I can imagine coming up is people without a mailing address, but we do have traditional polling places (that are much less crowded) for that reason.

We need these fascists out and we need this system adopted nation-wide to give more people their voices.

Agreed. I've mailed it a few times, most of the time dropped it off. It's a beautiful system. I hate it so much that the bloated toad in the WH has any fucking possibility of threatening it.

Anyway, yeah, all cons need to be flushed and a bare minimum should be established, as the cons would rather have situations where they can orchestrate long wait times under miserable conditions in the "wrong" districts.

  1. Every state should have voters given a no-excuse option to get a ballot mailed to them or they could print one out (Colorado needs this part), that they then can drop off or mail back. It needs to be enshrined into law that the USPS can not be directed to interfere with these in any way, shape or form.

  2. Every state needs to have a bare minimum of drop boxes and polling places, adjusted by population density in a given region. Possibly measure average wait times every election and if they hit some threshold (say, over twenty minutes), they have to add another polling place next election.

  3. Every state must offer early voting, with the minimum number of days in that window set at 30 days.

The idea that some states still require in-person voting the day of the election is absolutely ludicrous.

Colorado also has a system called BallotTrax iirc that lets us know if our ballot has been counted. Other places should do that too. It's great.

My only other criticism of our system is that we don't have ranked choice voting, but we'll get there.

The ballot measure for it a couple years ago failed because honestly it wasn't worded in a way that people understood what they were voting for

All states will, that's not the problem. The problem is that after the ballots are filled out and mailed back, the USPS will run the bar codes from each one against their own "APPROVED" list, and if a bar code isn't on the list, they will reject the ENTIRE BATCH, which could be as many as 10,000 ballots.

Nobody has seen this Approved List, nobody knows who made the list, what data the lists were compiled from, who is in charge of the list, who is in charge of this program, what's going to happen to the rejected ballots - anything.

So states can send out their ballots, people can fill them out and send them back, but you will never be sure if your vote ever got counted. Unless MAGA does well this election, then you'll know.

I thought they may not mail them out, either. If they mail them out, and the state has drop boxes, well, we still have (relatively) easy voting.

If they don't even mail them to the voter, that's even worse.

Why wouldn't you know? In Kansas I am able to logon to a website and it tracks the ballot. It would tell me if it was received and if it was accepted or rejected.

Do the rest of the states not have that?
