This community is to find that game you can't remember. Like it's on the tip of your tongue.
This community is mainly for finding a specific game title. If you are looking for game suggestions, !videogamesuggestions@lemmy.zip is the place to be.
If you want to post, use this syntax:
[Platform][Estimated Year] A short description of the game.
Example:
[NES][1980]A man jumping on mushrooms
You can add a longer description in the Body. Preferably according to the template in the rules.
This syntax and our template further down makes it easier to find your game, so please use it.
If your game is found, change the title by adding [Solved] in front of the title, and the game name. For example:
[Solved][NES][1980s] Super Mario Bros.
If you're not sure about any of the details you can add [Unknown] instead.

It kind of looks similar, especially with the blue-silver colour scheme of one faction. But I think I would remember the title and the box, since it's not an obscure game. I'm not quite sure, but I don't think it's it.
Edit: I have it in my library. If I can't say it after trying it out, there's no chance of finding the right game anyway.
Edit 2: No, it's definitely not Total Annihilation. It's a bit similar, but it was slower, fewer and bigger units and no 3D models
One of the Earth series? Earth 2140, Earth 2150 Trilogy, or Earth 2160?
Only 2140 would fit graphics-wise, but as far as I can remember, the game had a rather clean look, not the rugged one this game is going for.

That really does sound like total annihilation.
Please consider looking at Zero-k on gog.com, steam, or another fine repo. It's a fun game, very similar to its spiritual predecessor, and scrap plays a huge part.
