Just came to say this one really has the "don't talk to me until I had my coffee" vibe. I don't have advice for you, sorry.

Yes, he is a grumpy boy. Unless he's asleep, then he becomes a seal π

Amazing skill !
Yes. We had a cat who was a bit of a glutton and would wake us up yowling in the early mornings. We stopped feeding him in the morning and just gave him a full day's meal at night. He didn't wake us up after that change.
This. We did the same with out cats. They have dry kibble available all day, but we stopped giving them wet food in the morning and only give wet food in the evening. Most of the annoying loud morning meowing stopped.
I like this idea. Will try dry food in the morning. He doesn't get nearly as excited about dry food π
Did you feed him just dry food? I'd be concerned about wet food going bad, especially in summer.
He always ate quickly so it was never an issue
A full day's meal in one go? He's really into food but I'd be afraid he'd vomit if he ate that much π
gravity feeders can work for cats that eat a lot of dry food, though their weight may be affected
This is a bit tricky, unfortunately. The gray one is much more into dry food and we've already had to cut back on food a little bit because he has been gaining weight. I fear that if food is always available, the gray one would gain weight very quickly.
ah that sucks. apparently wet food curbs the gain of weight a little (if it's good wet food) because they'll eat fewer calories per gram of food (more water), but I guess you've already tried that.
They are pricey- this one is $159 USD- but auto wet food dispensers exist. This one refrigerates the food until itβs programmed feeding time, then heats it up. Itβs a dish that is uncovered at the proper time, not like a soft serve dispenser (what I imagined when I heard of such a thing).

There is an $80 one at chewy.com but it uses ice packs you have to remember to freeze.
