THE government must “play its part” in holding big tech firms accountable, children’s charity NSPCC warned today.

Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden told Sky News today that he would require Meta’s new US safety measures to apply to British users, after a multibillion-pound legal settlement.

Facebook and Instagram’s parent company agreed to pay $18 billion (£13.3bn) in an agreement which closed off a legal battle between 47 US states and the tech giant.
