The Boondocks was a daily syndicated comic strip written and originally drawn by Aaron McGruder that ran from 1996 to 2006. Created by McGruder in 1996 for Hitlist.com, an early online music website, it was printed in the monthly hip hop magazine The Source in 1997. As it gained popularity, the comic strip was picked up by the Universal Press Syndicate and made its national debut on April 19, 1999. A popular and controversial strip, The Boondocks satirizes African-American culture and American politics as seen through the eyes of young African American radical Huey Freeman. McGruder's syndicate said it was among the biggest launches the company ever had.

As I mentioned in this post, i have recovered a section of Aaron's old website where they (Aaron, and his webmaster) would repost certain guestbook entries. These entries have nothing to do with the day's strip, as they were left previously and posted on later dates.

You are doing exactly what the white man wants us to do: he wants us divided in half so he can take us down one by one! With a comic like this you are trying to brake down all the barriers the civil rights leaders of the past has built for us.

I appreciate you obtaining these bits of history? context? and sharing them. Even if I'm having some trouble parsing this particular one. You don't usually hear people describing the civil rights movement as building barriers.

I think that is why this one got a mention originally. From the use of brake vs break to the civil rights movement building barriers and a perceived racist comic strip braking (sic) down the barriers built by them. The whole thing is a muddled confused mess.
