I was told covering the solar panels might be a better option, mostly because it isn't visible from normal viewing angles, acts slower and takes longer to identify. OTOH that doesn't actually damage the cameras themselves.

But why wait til end of October? I don't get it.

I would have asumed the camera lenses have that anti vandalism coating that prevents paint from sticking
