The wealthy people I know aren't the Hollywood stereotype.
They drive 10 year old cars, live in nice homes but not McMansions, etc.
In particular they take vacations every year, long ones, to places like Hawaii, Italy, Greece, etc.
To see them on the street you wouldn't know how wealthy they are.
The meme here is of the California posers or Appalachian temporarily rich (who are my people - you see this every time there's a boom).
That sounds like upper middle class, where they still work for their money, like lawyers and surgeons and dentists. At that wealth level it's still stupid to buy or lease a brand new car, and they still mix in with locals and go grocery shopping.
Not that they aren't doing much better than most, but that's not what rich means. If you're working a "day job" like lawyer/dentist, you're probably not rich.
The real rich fucks, you wouldn't see them on the street because they stop doing shit like that. They are the true owner class. They make money because they literally own shit and rent it out. Gated neighborhoods at minimum, pay other people to buy groceries for them and cook for them, pay other people to do all sorts of shit so they don't mingle with the lower classes, and sometimes just working from other countries and moving around because they can.
Region probably doesn't matter as much in an age of social media. The inexperienced rich haven't developed their own style or taste so they copy Andrew Tate and other grifters. Capri pants and loose blouses might be the next big thing.
Yeah, cause of unions, not cause of nobility... sure...
Correct
First off, an obligatory "boo AI"
Second, the F-250 (Lariat or otherwise) is a middle-class car, because monthly car loan payments equivalent to rent is normal now, apparently. In the pickup world, a Rivian would be a better example.
Oh man, if an F-250 is ‘middle class’ then I’m definitely poorer than I thought.
No, just smarter
It's pretty crazy that mid-level truck prices easily hit luxury sedan prices these days.
It's crazy to me that people pay almost as much for a rapidly depreciating asset as they would for a home
As a non burger, is lariat or king ranch the better spec
King Ranch or Platinum are the top trims
One euros eighty for expresso? Sign me up!
American rich is so hollow
That's why people say we are in a (second) Gilded age.
That's why they're all miserable and looking to take us down with them
I recently vacationed in Barcelona, it was so wonderful walking around the city at sunset and at night. They'd close off whole streets for pop-up markets. Cultural celebrations randomly around, architecture that was just.... chefs kiss. Public transportation that was cheap and reliable. I'd take a real nice apartment there over a mc mansion in the states in a heartbeat.
No croissant is worth €2.20
The word is performative 😃
Why is a cafe in Florence using French signs?
For the same reason the scooter says it's registered in Rome (well, R~~o~~ma, but I guess it's supposed to spell Roma) on a very much not Italian number plate. It's AI.
Expresso
it's Florence's café
Maybe without the cigarette
Where is an espresso cheaper than a coffee?
Most cafes, I'd have thought? To make a coffee you have to make an espresso shot, and then add something water and/or milk to it.
I guess if you go to e.g. McDonald's or whatever, they have a big thing full of filter coffee, but I (in Britain) don't really see that outside of fast food. Most cafes operate with espresso machines only. Maybe they'll do pour over if they're fancy.
This hits harder than it should for a meme.
