Either this title is missing a lot of hyphens, has a bunch of typos, or I'm having a stroke.

Those commas are incorrectly used. Commas are used to separate dependent clauses (if I remember my English classes correctly, it's been a long time).
"Back of the pack runners" is (I think) a noun phrase, so should be hyphenated to indicate this.
Same with "tail walking".

Sure. I was using them as a mind breather, similar to how speakers make a break, when emphasizing. Comma seemed less cluttery than adding hyphens or brackets.
@spacehulk @okwithmydecay you could hyphenate it ‘back-of-the-pack runners’ but it would be considered very picky!
