Fuck, but isn't it? Recently I had to book a plane ticket for my cat and I. I looked up the vaccines she needs, the timeline to get everything, checked both of the airlines and planes could accommodate us, then booked the tickets. I moved on to take care of other pre-international move tasks, but got this sinking suspicion that something was wrong. So I called up the airlines to reserve a spot for my cat like a month out.
At first, both airlines said my ticket was screwed up and could not allow pets. Then one airline said it was the other's fault and that I shouldn't stop calling them to get an answer. Finally, someone escalated the issue after days of back and forth and said to check back in on Friday. I call back, there is no note in my profile, the woman at the desk has no idea what issue I'm having, and she repeats the advice to just keep calling the other airline. I explain the situation calmly and clearly, but detail how I've now been on hold between the airlines for a cumulative 2.5 hours across 10 days of trying to figure this out. She asks me to hold. I wait. She comes back and explains that the airplanes both would accept pets, but not that specific airport/plane combination and that I need to book another ticket. Except, now that it's been nearly two weeks, costs have gone up and I'll need to pay another €400. All of my safety moving money just... poof. Nothing I can do about it. Customer service doesn't care. Complaint line doesn't care. Welcome to being an adult, fuck you.
