As bad as he is as a person, Trump isn't the cause of the problems, he is a manifestation of them. He exploits them for personal gain but the system allows him to do it. The problems will not be resolved if there is another presidential election and he isn't re-elected. The problems are deeper. To resolve them, a very broadly based restoration of ethics is required.
I see it differently.
These type of politicians exaggerate small problems and make people think about them as much as possible so it is perceived as big problems and then they sell themselves as the solution. Immigration, fake news, presidential corruption, LGBT, DEI, and all other "problems" Trump abused to gain power, were never as bad as they made many people believe.
The system allows for this kind of mass manipulation, so it's definitely a bad system. But these politicians are as much to blame for the "problems" they force into the minds of people as the system is for allowing it.
None of those are the problems we're talking about. We're talking about checks and balances which are now exposed to be a big joke. This is like maybe the first time we caught a neighbor stealing our wifi, but we literally never had a password on it. The problem was the security of our system the whole time, not the new neighbor who moved in and stole it for the first time.
What you say is also true and makes the problems worse, but changing the president won't suddenly produce a well educated public resistant to misinformation and manipulation or legislation that serves the interests of the broader public, or take money out of politics, or hold the corrupt oligarchs accountable for their crimes, or remove from power the many other corrupt politicians who accept bribes for legislation against the public interest, do insider trading or otherwise abuse their power, or restore law and order generally so that all are equal before the law, regardless of wealth and power (not that this ever was the case, but it is worse now than it has been), and it won't rein in corporations, to hold them accountable for their actions and treat them as organizations to serve the public interest, rather than as 'people' above the law, to be served according to their wealth.
As Bluescluestoothpaste said: the 'checks and balances' have been proven ineffective, and changing the president won't fix them.
The GDP is growing. There are more billionaires than ever. But the middle class is devastated and there is less opportunity for ordinary people to enjoy a bit of success and security and some small reward for their hard work than there was decades ago. The share of the wealth that goes to working people has been decreasing for decades. That's wealth that society produces as a whole. Individuals don't produce it in isolation. But changing the president will not change the economic system or fundamentals of power structures.
The problems that lead to Trump being in power are systemic and pervasive. They existed before he gained power to abuse them and they will continue to exist after he is gone. They are much harder to fix than removing a single, corrupt president from power.
Arguably, it's even worse than normal if he is reelected
People hate on trump but he's honestly the perfect image of American Culture. That's probably why he was chosen as a muppet for whoever owns him.

More Americans need to understand how spectacularly unimpressed the rest of the world is with their protestations that "he doesn't represent ME!"
more europeans need to understand that just because he was "elected" doesnt mean his behavior represents me or anyone else who doesnt support him.
It represents the behavior we allow even if we're not all literally child rapists. We just pay taxes to one.

'Expressing alarm' is meaningless without actually responding to the alarm. That whole article is full of statements like "alarmed legal and ethics experts", "critics raised red flags", "analysts are troubled", "experts have raised “corruption” concerns", "offer equally strong critiques", "We have previously raised concerns..." etc, and not a single word about anyone doing anything beyond a sternly worded letter.
Everyone: "Hey! The smoke alarm in the kitchen is going off!"
Democratic Party: "Damn. Anyway, moving on"

Well a big problem with the US is that the establishment of the Democratic party has been saying for the last 30 years "NOT NOW, this election is TOO IMPORTANT TO TALK ABOUT THE FIRE ALARM" to people who are hurt and scared because they feel like they are definitely in a burning building.

Is it possible that, one day, when real government is restored, Trump's assets will be seized to help ray for the damage he's done?
Doubtful it happens in his lifetime.
It'll turn out that all his wealth was on worthless paper and all of his tchotchkes were just gold spray-paint.
No it's mostly from crypto, meaning bribes and money from fools. He's actually rich now and is getting billions for real.

Imagine what Harris and Biden would have done.
They would have probably gone with the status quo.
Empty promises to grow the middle class, supported Ukraine and not started a new war with Iran, and kept their corruption at a sustainable level.. you know, to keep having a cow to milk rather than slaughtering it for the one-time bonanza.
Probably no mass deportation or concentration camps or thousand of people disappareaed into deportation gulags and (likely) mass graves in some country where nobody will find them.
We had Biden and Harris. They kept kids in cages. They gave us genocide in Gaza. They ended a rail worker strike for rail workers. Sick and tired? Keep working.
Everytime I read about Trump and those around him, I think of this scene. Everytime, I am suddenly overcome by an overwhelming desire for a genie to grant me a wish.
