Today's game is Assassin's Creed Revelations. I sat down and just played through the DLC in one sitting (and 100% the rest of the game, i'm not gonna talk about that though because it was nothing special). The DLC was honestly nice. The best way i could describe it is a Walking sim with a little Parkour and Puzzle mechanics. I know it doesn't sound exciting, but after back to back combat with AC, it was a nice break to have. Plus the landscapes in it were gorgeous sometimes.

I did get trouble with one achievement which gave me one of the biggest struggles i think i have with one in recent memory. The thing was giving me a headache so i just went ahead and used a glitch to do it. I love performing glitches like that in games so honestly no value lost for me. Still though, after an hour i was honestly considering throwing in the towel for 100% just because of that.

The whole tragedy of Clay was really sad too. Like, the base game made me feel for him, but getting to see his rough upbringing and the way he died, it sucks. Being forced into the Animus until you go insane and die is a horrible way to go if you ask me. And the fact Lucy was supposed to help him and just didn't.

After this i don't think i'll go straight to AC3. I have played 4 Assassin's Creed games Back to Back. AC3 i plan on just picking up where i left off, so it won't be too bad, but still. I really would like to try something new between the games. Maybe i'll do Myst. Playing this really left me wanting to play Myst.

Is there an easily accessible modern Myst you have in mind?

I always liked to play a bit of AC, but I’m flabbergasted how you could play four in a row. I mean, up until 3 they were all great but don’t you need a break sometime? 😄

The updated versions of Myst and Riven are fantastic. I played them earlier this year, and it was such a great experience.

Also, I know this is outside the normal scope of these posts, but after finishing Riven I read the trilogy of books (The Book of Atrus, The Book of Ti’ana, and The Book of D’ni) that Cyan put out a long time ago, and I highly recommend them for anyone that has any interest in the world and lore of Myst

I grew up with it so i'm sure a decent bit of it is Nostalgia, but i also love the different historical settings and find the unique parkour based movement systems of the old ones addicting to a fault. I've also just been attracted to the philosophical side of it lately as well so that definitely adds to the draw for me. Plus, they're consistent gameplay wise which is as much a blessing for me as it is a bane because i can look at it and go "Oh, hey, more of the gameplay i like" and i can trust it will be almost exactly the same. The downside is when that burnout hits, it hits a lot harder i imagine

It definitely helps too though that i had other games running at the same time. Like Dead Space was a big one i remember

That last bit explains a lot. I tend to play just one game at a time. I love them for all the same reasons you do.
