As the title says bought a mini pc with the thought of having a dedicated home automation pc. I am thinking of moving home assistant from docker to having Home Assistant OS on it back having some second thoughts before doing it. Does anyone have experience doing it and can give me advice? Here is an ai summary of the plan:
I just picked up a Beelink EQ Mini PC (Intel N150, 12GB RAM, 500GB SSD) to replace my old laptop that currently runs Home Assistant in Docker and Scrypted.
I’m considering wiping Windows and installing Proxmox, then running:
Home Assistant OS in a VM
Scrypted separately in a VM/LXC
A small Linux VM for Claude Code so I can use AI to help manage/update everything
Would you recommend this setup, or would I be better off keeping Windows and running HAOS in a VM? Mainly looking for something reliable, easy to back up/restore, and flexible enough to add more home automation stuff later.
