And yet the catholic church still wields a huge amount of influence in Australia

From politics, to health and education, even unions that are supposed to protect people from exploitation

Because it's profitable for them

Cunts.

Yeah, but luckily Pauleen has declared Australia a Judeo-Christian nation. So we are going to have fuckhead racist white supremacist scum acting as apologists for the churches. It's weird how we don't get to have personal privacy or data security in the name of protecting the children, but they won't put churches on a watch list don't you think?

The irony is that she's an atheist

She keeps that pretty quiet, and says that "western civilisation" is based on "judeo-sky-fairy" shit, but that's only because of her hatred of Muslims and aboriginal people

She's dumb as fuck, but happy to weaponise the superstition and ignorance of others if it's convenient

Sadly, it works

I know an Asian Muslim immigrant, three of Poorline's favourite hated people who still voted for her because she hates indigenous people so much

Shit's fucked

shes cunning as fuck, like Trump.. be wary, not dismissive or one morning we wake up and she's the PM and Roberts is the Environment Minister

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

She's not cunning, she's an opportunist

She's not a rat or a weasel, she's a cockroach

She, like Trump, is a symptom of how many shit cunts live in Australia

I always roll my eyes when anyone talks about anything being 'Judeo-Christian'. Show me the nearest Judeo-Christian church, bucko.

You know what just out of spite I might make the god I'm making up Judeo-Christian. They're a giant crab that flies through space, devours planets and enjoys tea. Maybe I'll make them worship jesus or yahweh or asherah or something. Let's see if the idea of my god worshipping a different god still makes me giggle tomorrow morning

Yes, I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

church services are at lunchtime, whatever day you feel like. go grab a crab sandwich and eat it while staring wistfully at the ocean or sea or fjord or whatever water you normally loiter around and stare wistfully at while you eat crab.

also i know it will be hard to attend christian services and eat their jeezits, but please refrain from pointing out how bland and flavorless their god is until after their services.

The newsletter will be sufficient, thanks. Leaving the house unnecessarily is against my religion.

Can't wait for the High Court to overturn this one too (/s for those who need it)

[–] motruck@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

And everyone wasn't surprised.

Why is there a picture of Colin Farrell in his Penguin makeup?

There's some irony with how the only people (en masse excluding outliers ) within that branch of the Christian faith are forbidden from marriage are the ones prolifically abusing others.

Maybe the Roman Catholic Church should look at changing their opinion on this topic if it's not one they've made irreversible dogma.

It's always the ones you expect.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Only one? Pretty sure there's a few more of 'em around.

[–] Nath@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Most of them got away with it (died before facing justice).
Tragically, an awful lot of their victims have also died from things like suicide and overdoses etc.

Before we get too complacent that this is a blight only within one flavour of Christianity, it's important to remember we had a whole royal commission into institutional child abuse that found this happening everywhere where adults had access to children. Parents are better today at being wary around who they leave their kids alone with.

And these are just institutionalised instances. It is/was more prevalent that abuse would be from a family member/friend.

Fucking hell.

I hope he first rots in jail then rots in hell.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

He looks like one of the bad guys from those Dune movies in the 80s.
