a colander perched on a gate post

Which Was The Style At The Time

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Cool! My colander didn't really work.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 29 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

did you update the firmware?

[–] Multiplexer@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Probably forgot to renew their solar tier subscription.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Lucky, I need a subscription just to get the holes to open

I mean, it's pretty old.

Try unplugging it, counting to 60 and then using it to strain some pasta.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Was it filled with water?

[–] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It was too cloudy to see it here, and it feels extra insulting to know we had less sun than the UK

[–] CelloMike@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

You can have it back, we've had far too much

Hasn't rained where I am in literally months

[–] Drekaridill@lemmy.wtf 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm in Reykjavík we got the total eclipse. It was cloudy 🙂

[–] ADTJ@feddit.uk 2 points 3 weeks ago

I travelled to Spain to see the total eclipse and it was cloudy. My next door neighbour in UK had a better view

[–] Multiplexer@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 3 weeks ago

They tried that at the meetup at our local planetary observatory.
Didn't work for some reason, though.

But they also had the more serious stuff lined up, so got some great views!

Thank you for sharing!

I have a wonderful memory of making viewing boxes with friends for a previous eclipse. This made me think of that.

How do we know this isn't just a really cool looking colander?

[–] Tiral@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Take my money.

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

You can see something similar standing under a tree with a nice canopy. Looks pretty.

[–] HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 2 points 3 weeks ago

I managed to do the same by making a small gap between my fingers. Then went back to looking at it with eclipse glasses.

So lucky! How high in the sky was it for you? I'm in Prague and couldn't see it because it was literally like 2⁰ above the horizon 😥
