A new offence? A public spec’s offender? Bring it on!

Are they hackable? It would be great to de-cloud them and run my ouw software.

Can someone explain to me why so many people want these glasses? They can't all be pervy or malicious, surely...

There's many times I've wished I could have captured and recorded moments with family. So that would be a use

Dashcam for cyclists - at least that was the thing that made me consider getting a pair.
The battery only lasts for about two hours of video recording though, so I didn't consider them very long.

I can't imagine the resolution would be very good either.

We’re suddenly supposed to care about the privacy implications because it’s probably sending to Xi instead of a US oligarch.

Are these actually smart glasses, or just glasses with a camera in them? Because that is not the same thing. We've had glasses with cameras in them for like 20 years. They can be great for recording a ride or run, for example.

They appear to have some smart features, the kmart website includes these on the description:

  • Bluetooth connectivity for music and hands-free calls
  • Smart touch controls and buttons
  • Image recognition and chat features via the HeyCyan companion app

The last point is most relevant, I'm guessing that means it can do things like attempt to identify stuff you're looking at. I wouldn't have high hopes for the software being well coded or supported for any length of time though...
