Back in my day, we took whatever pixels we were given and we were glad for them! And before your precious pixels, we were happy to get ASCII pictures!

How is it that almost every brand except Doritos is the shit brand that I never buy because there's always something better? Is tge company's philosophy to make everything too sweet or something?

You find Quaker oats too sweet?

Of course it's not an "always has been" situation but a long long road of consolidation.

Is there a non potato version of this where the brands are readable?

Legit did not realize that cap't crunch, and starbucks are pepsi owned.

I still have a conspiracy theory that pepsi also owns 100% of small business resteraunts. You ever try ordering coke in a resteraunt??? "Is pepsi ok?"

Everytime.

Starbucks isn't owned by Pepsi. The meme lacks veracity. How dare they!?!

Not the stores, but the bottled and canned stuff that you can buy in the grocery stores

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Ooooooooh. So they don't own starbucks. They just have a distribution agreement in place.

Theoretically starbucks COULD do that themselves, but it would cost a lot of upfront investment which may not end up being profitable. So they just say to pepsi "here's the formula, you bottle and ship it, and we'll pay you a fee".

In Germany Pepsi doesn't exist outside of grocery stores lol. Only small local brands can compete with Coka Cola in the restaurant game ironically

You've never ate at a Sub Way? They only have Pepsi Co products.
