What started as a way to bring all my lights into Apple Homekit reached it's "final" stage yesterday when I got the monitoring certificate from Noonlight for burglary, smoke/CO, and medical.
I'd been getting fed up with ADT and how obnoxious their app/notifications were, their price increase even though I was on legacy hardware using nothing of Google Home, and the general size of their devices made using the windows/blinds a PITA. Luckily Aqara was having a decent sale on their sensors, cams, locks, thermostat, and hub during Prime Days. So I set out swapping the ADT sensors for the MUCH smaller Aqara window/door sensors along with the doorbell, cameras, and door locks (I should note that I'm using a Zooz 800 Z-Wave sensor for the wired smoke/CO alarms).
On the software side I installed Alarmo first so as to get the right devices associated with the alarm, then I installed the Noonlight integration. The HA automations made the Noonlight event creation a breeze. I Set Alarmo being triggered to create a police event, set the detector/s going off as a fire event, and an Aqara button to trigger an EMS event. After all the automations I went about arming Alarmo and then tripped it on purpose so as to get the Noonlight call. Gave them my "All good" PIN and then asked them to watch for my other alarms, I pushed the button and it showed on their system as an EMS alert and then I simply hit the test button on the detector and it triggered the Fire alert. The call acted as a documented test so I just had to chat with Noonlight on their site to get my certificate which I then immediately forwarded to my home owners insurance provider.
Been using the sensors and stuff for a couple weeks now (before linking to/with Noonlight) and have to say I'm beyond satisfied with the swap. Additional automations to lock the doors once the sensors recognize it as closed provides the peace of mind of not leaving a door unlocked, being able to see the doorbell cam on the Apple TV while waiting for packages, and now knowing that I'm getting better monitoring for a lower price is the icing on the cake!
Next steps will be dashboards, fine tuning the notifications, the arm/disarm based on person leaving/arriving, setting thermostat to maintain temp in bedroom vs the larger house, remote HA access vs having to be on local WiFi, and updating the Pi with an SSD and a UPS and a cellular connection so the monitoring will persist in case of a power outage.
