Fediverse vs Disinformation

2221 readers
199 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

That should be a billion dollar fine for Fox News.

If you have meth in your car, it is ok for armed masked men to shoot you dead.

You're talking about a network that suggested euthanizing the homeless. Anchor still works there and no one cares.

Fucking disgusting to see this drug-use line advanced every time a police officer needs to explain why a civilian has been executed. Any plans to actually prosecute a 1st degree murder? Or is it merely enough to tell grieving relatives that the corpse of their loved-on has officially been slandered?

Well, sure, possession of any drug gets the instant death penalty in MAGA America.

Unless you're a Trump appointee, then drug possession and use is a prerequisite for employment.

Every fox news employee needs to be murdered and the children let out of their basements. Every single one.
