No, 2012 was under a glacier and the magna hitting ice caused it to explode in dust. I think the term is tephra. This is from the last few years where there has been a series of eruptions right next to the international airport in Keflavík.

And I suspect that they mean the apocalyptic movie named "2012"!
Ah yes. And with the Grímsvötn eruption in 2011 and Holuhraun in 2014 I got confused about the years. What even was Iceland doing in 2012, right?
