You may not find many people here that even know what the current reddit app UI is. Perhaps you might share which features or flows you like in that app so we could suggest something that provides something similar.

The UI mainly, another user suggested summit which has similar design to reddit.

I think a lemmy client close to reddit UI but with extra cool advance feature would be a great way to attracts people like me

But out of the box it should be like reddit

I do not mean offense by this but anyone that wants to participate on the fediverse because it offers an app that clones Reddit is generally a person that the fediverse doesn't want on the platform. The community is generally looking for people that want to use the Fediverse for the community, lack of exploitation, bots and karma farmers that Reddit excels at providing.

Maybe you should just keep using Reddit if that's the experience you're looking for.

That's not what I meant.

I meant the UI specifically, I found a lemmh client that is easy for me to navigate, called Summit.

Also, I hate that the instance you are on shows communities with the @yourinstance.com

I think all communities should have that including communities from your own instance.

The User Experience, IMHO, would be better.

Because the concept of fedivers was hard for me to get in the begging.

+1 to Summit

The offical Reddit app? I have no idea what that looks like. There used to be all sorts of great Reddit apps but then Reddit decided to shut them all down. On the upside many of us came over to Lemmy at that time.

RIP redditisfun. Reddit was fun.

[โ€“] mountainRadish@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I found one that looks cool

https://f-droid.org/packages/com.idunnololz.summit.fdroid

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idunnololz.summit

I still am open to more suggestions.

Also I prefer if communities from my instance also show with @lemmy.world

Because I sometimes forget which instance I made an account on.

Also, as a new users I was confused why some communities showed with a name while others had a domain name appended

Summit is the best app I've tried by far, great dev too. Though you are spoiled for choice when it comes to apps, there are probably a couple dozen of them by now.

Are you aware of a way to keep it from graying out post you've already seen? I mean, it's cool if it does that with the link headline but I don't like that it does that with the image of the post, and I don't know how to change it.

[โ€“] slemptastrophe@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Nevermind, I found it! It's under settings, Posts feed, Post appearance, Read Post style

edit: typos

[โ€“] idunnololz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

To always display instance names, go to Settings > Misc > display instance names. Change it to always.

I doubt you'll find any that are scattered with ads...

As the other reply said, I have no idea what reddit UI is like, but I've tried several Lemmy apps, and Summit has ended up as my favorite.

[โ€“] mountainRadish@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh is this the summit you are talking about?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idunnololz.summit

I like the screenshot the ui is close to reddit and simple. I will give it a try

Summit on F Droid

https://f-droid.org/packages/com.idunnololz.summit.fdroid

I also use Boost which looks nearly the same as Boost for Reddit used to look.

I have no idea what the Reddit app is like though, haven't been there for 5 years or so.

Another one is Interstellar

they also work with Piefed (interfraternity with Lemmy)

[โ€“] mountainRadish@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I LOVE IT! IT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED

[โ€“] mountainRadish@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Lemmy people are chill ๐Ÿ˜‚

[โ€“] Auster@thebrainbin.org 3 points 1 month ago

Not familiar with the app. The only interface I know based on anything Reddit-related is Mlmym, based on old.reddit.com specifically (e.g. on Blรฅhaj Zone).

Also besides the other comments mentioning people are likely not keeping track of the current Reddit UI, considering the major fediverse softwares are pretty "app-fied" even on mobile browsers, I'd imagine not many would be using apps either. And because of that, I'd expect a much smaller subset would be concerned with an UI based on or copying Reddit's.

dont really know if this is what you're looking for but i use summit on android and its pretty similar lowkey ๐Ÿคซ you can get it on github and on f-droid

We wrote up a guide page on finding apps: https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/threadiverse/apps

The short of it is that you can compare features using this site: https://www.lemmyapps.com/

There is this community that you use to discuss apps and read updates from devs: !lemmyapps@lemmy.world

[โ€“] mountainRadish@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago
