haven't tried anything right now, cause im fixing around with plasma bigscreen, but it should work now that its on-device and not connecting to the device instead

the laptop im using is utter dogshit (takes like 2 mins to boot up for some reason) but maybe i can stream from my main pc?

[–] goofsqueak 1 points 2 days ago

yeah i thought of that, maybe ill give it a try

im already trying out vacuumtube for youtube and fladder for jellyfin, but what more is there? Like just anything im lowkey curious

[–] goofsqueak 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

im using the jellyfin app on my chromecast, and when i try to log in it says "Unable to connect to server" or something

[–] goofsqueak 1 points 3 days ago (3 children)

yea i still have it

[–] goofsqueak 1 points 3 days ago (5 children)

can't connect for some reason

[–] goofsqueak 1 points 4 days ago

checked apn multiple times and it still doesn't work, and i can't find the carrier choice setting thing (im probably just missing something)

fair enough

i already have a jellyfin server on my familys old ass laptop, but its kinda meh so i thought hosting it on this streaming box would be a good idea AND im always connected to the server (in my room where the box is of course). The minecraft server thingo isn't really needed and the same applies to the steam games

[–] goofsqueak 1 points 5 days ago

ah alright thanks

saw an issue on their github so it could be a bug but im not sure

ive tried unrooting/uninstalling magisk, rebooting my phone a billion times, putting the sim in another phone (it seemed to work there, so its not the sim), put the sim back in, EVERYTHING basically

any help??

so like ram, storage and like cpu in intel terms (basically the only one i could find and understand)

i will be using plasma bigscreen, running my jellyfin server, maybe play some steam games (decently light ones), maybe run a minecraft server, watch youtube, stream like netflix etc.

haven't used fedora before, but it shouldn't be that hard lowkey

also isn't bazzite based on fedora? is it better in any way?

okay just to start things of; I AM NOT AN ADVANCED USER, I WOULD SAY BOTTOM OF INTERMMEDIATE AT BEST!!!!

im planning on ditching my chromecast for a little mini pc with plasma bigscreen, so i'm just wondering what distro would be good for that. I'll also be hosting my jellyfin server, and maybe game too but idrk

already installed it, isn't it called like "no telemetry" or something on modrinth?

I'm using lunar client and its pretty decent but im kinda worried about data collection. It's probably not horrible but still, i want to be pretty sure that it doesn't collect any data, or atleast not a lot. I want something like lunar just more private and maybe foss as well? Also it needs to work on linux

thank guy

basically something like smarttube but on linux

im tryna get a mini pc and make it a streaming box, but i of course need a remote but the ones that actually look comfortable seem to have microphones in them, and i don't think that i will take it apart to remove the microphone. So should i just not care since im gonna use it on linux or is there an easier way to remove/break the microphone?

also does the lg remote with the motion controlled cursor thingy work on every tv or does it need to be an lg?

thank guy

so im tryna quit using my chromecast and start using a raspberry pi with linux to use as my streaming box instead. So what is the best price-to-performance ratio on a raspberry pi for that purpose? I'm mainly gonna watch youtube but being able to watch something in 4k would also be nice, and it needs to have a wifi chip so i can access my jellyfin server

thank guy

im using lineageOS soa the default apps are pretty okay already, but i was just looking on f-droid and found something called DresSecureComms and it looked pretty good, but i just wanted to know if it actually makes a difference

thank guy

i really like the frutiger aero and skeuomorphism looks (real words) but its pretty hard to find a launcher, icon pack etc. that doesn't collect all of my data. I know most people don't care and that's fine, but i do. For example; smartlauncher is probably an amazing launcher but if you look at their privacy policy for a minute you can see how much data they really collect. I know this is picky but i just want to know if its even possible

thank guy

basically like a more privacy-friendly version of an android tv or apple tv, maybe a little bit more tinkering but not a lot. Like i know stuff like a raspberry pi with linux or something is an option, but that's just a little bit too much for me imo. I mainly want to watch youtube (something like smarttube), jellyfin and some streaming services (netlix, prime etc.). I'm in the eu btw

thank
