Why not both? Also in the ukraine war the US and most major powers are not on the side of the aggressor.

I'm not aware of any Ukraine protest that happened today in my area. Can you point me to it? Btw: in canvas, the Ukraine flag was done even earlier.
Also, I see no need for a protest because my country is very welcoming for Ukrainian refugees, which is a good thing. Except that defectors are send back to die at the front. Also Russian defectors are not welcomed because they are suspected to be spies. So what exactly is the topic and the demands of the protest you want me to go to?

I still don't see the appeal of country flags (unless specifically to support) and the usual gaming/IT symbols. Also, as much as I dutifully like the Maus, Ente and Elefant, they are big as fuck. This thing used to be chaotic anarchy out of which art (ugly and beautiful alike) grew organically, it's now very much German efficiency.
But I can't participate this year anyway beyond maybe a few pixels here and there, so I'm not too bothered.
At least the German flag contains the title of a controversially discussed antifascistic song by Danger Dan, Keine Angst. This is 100% support towards democratic tendencies and antifascists.
For context: Danger Dan is a Zionist and his idea of antifascism in the song is "let's dox Nazis so no one will want to have anything to do with them" which (1.) only works if Nazis are a frowned upon minority and not one of the biggest parties and (2.) focuses only on the AfD and not to the right shift that happens in all parliamentarian parties.
I'm not saying that it isn't shocking that the ÖRR (publicly funded TV/radio/...) shies away from showing it. It's even more shocking considering that the song isn't so far off from the national narrative. But the song isn't that great and doesn't deserve all the attention.

I think Ategon is engaging in bot activity.
The pattern located around Pixel (413,381) (some orange guy with a teal tongue and big eyes) is being created by a bunch of new accounts that were created today in the toast.ooo instance that have made zero comments, including:
- QuiLL
- toottheguy
- piece_of_white_bead
- honeyquill
- magic
- tuffmeep
The only account older than 36 hours I can see having contributed to this pattern is Ategon's account, who has placed a bunch of pixels. Since Ategon is a mod and developer of Canvas, I don't see a reasonable avenue other than stating this suspicion publicly.
Hey those are various beetleball players (which is a game im a developer for).
