Curious about non-tankie leftism? If you've got a little patience for 19th century academic style, let a little Marx and Kropotkin be your primer!

Marx's Communist Manifesto, short and accessible! Highly recommended if you haven't read it

Kropotkin's Conquest Of Bread

Selected works of Marx

The dark side of American Exceptionalism - does the democracy in the USA have serious issues? Must be the worst in the world then.

A positively Manichean outlook from many campists.

But it's in the name!

I wonder if they have some really specific definition of democracy or if they are just out of their mind. The US has seen a lot of democratic backsliding but it's still leaps and bounds better than the de facto absolute monarchy that is NK

They simply live in la-la land, where the US are the Great Satan and everyone who is against them must therefore be good. I'm not in any way implying that the US are not the Great Satan, just to be clear. Just that that doesn't make all the small satans any better.

Well, we've been an oligarchy from day one. But at least with some semblance of democracy.

Tbf the USSR and similar states are on the democratic side of authoritarian regimes. Not that they were/are democratic by any means, but the fact that elections matter at least somewhat is something you don't see in, say, African dictatorships.
