This kinda reminds me of a book I read as a kid. I cannot remember what it was called, but the main character was also a kid.
Anyway, the setting is that the main character thinks their family is really weird, for a number of odd-but-wholesome reasons, the most prominent of which was the nightly "screaming sessions". According to the main character, they would all get together at a certain time during the evening and just scream to relieve frustration and whatnot.
Not sure where I was going with this, but it always stuck with me how the parents just wanted the best for their kids.
If anyone recognizes this book that I'm having a really hard time remembering the name of, let me know...
