This kinda reminds me of a book I read as a kid. I cannot remember what it was called, but the main character was also a kid.

Anyway, the setting is that the main character thinks their family is really weird, for a number of odd-but-wholesome reasons, the most prominent of which was the nightly "screaming sessions". According to the main character, they would all get together at a certain time during the evening and just scream to relieve frustration and whatnot.

Not sure where I was going with this, but it always stuck with me how the parents just wanted the best for their kids.

If anyone recognizes this book that I'm having a really hard time remembering the name of, let me know...

Are you sure it's a book? Apparently it's a tradition in Uppsala, a student city in Sweden. A few videos made the rounds ten years ago or so.

Edit: added link. English Wikipedia doesn't put as much emphasis on Uppsala as other sources.

This is honestly something I miss doing after moving to the city. Screaming is apparently frowned upon among other people.

Honestly, it's the main draw of car ownership for me. I try to bus and bike as I often as I can, but getting in the car and driving down the road is the only way I can actually be sure that if I start screaming, no one can hear me.

Tap for sad thingMy dog died last month and this is genuinely one of the ways I grieved him. Couldn't cry as loud as I wanted in my home without starting to worry others could hear me, so into the car and off I went.

Road safe? Probably not. Effective though.

You are right about screaming. Last night around 1am I was biking home through a park thinking nobody would here me shout and sing off key. My bike light is very dim so I didnt see a person 10 feet away but was singing my head off. I saw them as I passed and immediately erupted in laughter. Its so funny to think what is taboo is really fucking normal. Then I howled at the full moon and jumped the train tracks as a shortcut home. I was this . close to homelessness but I just signed a lease and I move in on Wednesday. We are all human and deserve kindness! Sorry abt your dog, honey. Just remember all the joy they brought you and you gave back 10x fold. They were so lucky to have an owner as amazing as you <3. Keep shouting in the car and out (if you feel it).
