California Gov. Gavin Newsom called for a nationwide tax on billionaires as part of a broader “economic reset for America.”

Newsom, who is considered to be a 2028 presidential contender, also reiterated his opposition to a state-level wealth tax that Californians will vote on in November.

He also called for creating a “national public equity fund” to help “ensure every American owns a stake in the future being built by AI.”

Please don't fall for this rhetoric. He was just out less than a few months ago about why a billionaire tax and a wealth tax are not a good thing. I'm pretty sure he committed to vetoing any sort of tax that were to come for the billionaires.

He's only doing this because of populist policies, and the moment he's in presidental office, he does not intend to fulfill any of these promises.

Look at his actions as governor of California. This is not a populist dude. He is an establishment Democrat and would be a terrible, terrible pick for the Democratic nomination.
