I knew the game from the screenshot. It's forever logged in my brain in the folder of 'games I wanted to play but lacked the hardware'. I dunno if it's been moved off console as it's been many years at this point. Guess I'll go take a look.
And I either get to deal with defunct games for windows live issues, or emulator issues. I know which one I'm choosing.
Its definitely some work. I managed to get a copy of MyAbandonware that at least resolved the Windows Live issues but i've messed with that before and it was annoying
Pretty sure it emulates fine. Same here, never had the money for it. I really should try it now, it's so fun
An all-time great.
My love for this game is immeasurable.
Oh, that was my favorite game. If I recall correctly, it also was dubbed in my (Czech) language, which made it awesome.
I have to check if you can reasonably play it on PC.
You can! That's how i'm playing it. There's some finagling with the Launcher since it's ancient, but once you get past that it runs smoothly
Are you playing on Linux by chance? I did finfld a few Windows guides, which I assume would ve easier due to Windows Play whatever, but it also sounds like it would make it hell to set up on Linux.
I am! Been Linux for almost 4 years now and proud lol. I'd have to look up the exact steps i followed but as far as i remember they weren't too bad. But also the version i got off MyAbandonWare irc was a Repack with all the extra stuff scrubbed off.
The main roadblock i remember was the launcher. It just doesn't work under proton, irc it was easy to bypass though
Awesome, thanks! Managed to get it working, and even found a version with the Czech dub, so all is good! Thanks for reminding me the game exists :D
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it too. I have fond memories of it growing up so I’m always happy to help out others wanting to play it
Are you thinking about streaming those sessions? Some of these games look interesting and I would like to watch. Please don't feel any pressure to do so.
I have actually wanted to do streaming, but as like it's own thing entirely. If i do end up doing it i wouldn't expect it to be mentioned because of that separation, but i wouldn't at all be surprised if someone managed to track it down based solely on how the games line up.
The major issue i've run into with streaming is setting up my mic. I can never feel like i get the right setup with Easy Effects/OBS to make my mic sound good lmao. I really just need to sit down and look for some guides
Best of luck
This is the 5th day in a row that I see Viva Piñata mentioned somewhere, had completely forgotten about it for many years before this. Never played it, might try out a 360 emulator and see how it runs.
There's a PC version of the first game out there you can get that's practically abandoned. If you know your way around Proton it runs perfectly with a little fiddling, albeit capped at an odd resolution. The sequel also has a PC Decomp but i could never get it to work on Linux
