I'll take "things that never happened" for 1000

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, basically nobody talking about Iran or the strait or the slush fund amirite?

If you can't hold at least this much in your mind at once it's not our fault.

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

In actuality that particular score was EA's community team getting roasted for defending loot box bullshit.

Yeah, they often get deleted before that value, and it’s not what I expected of the up-down vote system.

Let's see if this works. Democrats got us here by rigging the primaries against Bernie in 2016 and then approving the genocide in Palestine in 2023.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I don't think this really counts as a Democrat/Neo-liberal forum really. You'll find more in agreement probably than disagreement.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Depending on the time and day and mood, neoliberals do come in larger numbers and downvote to defend the DNC and chant the mantra "vote blue no matter who", while refusing to learn the lessons for their repeated failures of defeating the orange pedophile who should be easy to defeat.

Watch and learn:

Bernie would have been third term president we needed

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

BuT hE wAsN't pOpUlAr!¡!¡!¡

He's not popular to the committee filled with neoliberals and only allow neoliberals in the primary of course.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Dammit I upvoted. It's not working here

ah yes the whole thing where there can only be one wrong thing at a time and multitasking is a lie. republican logic is at it again.

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 9 points 2 weeks ago

It’s exactly what happens. The Epstein files are not being talked about much at all.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 weeks ago

The problem is that the media (owned by the epstein class) also didn't want to talk about those things. So the algae and UFC are perfect excuses to have something else to talk about that doesn't really hurt trump.

[–] Turret3857@infosec.pub 23 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

This has to be bait. Theres no fucking way you didn't pick the transphobic billionaire property on purpose for this meme about purity tests.

I will never understand Lemmy’s obsession with trying to make the left fight itself.

[–] Baggie@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 weeks ago

Ooh that's kinda just what the left is like in general. Some real no true scotsman type shit.

Funny idea: what if Republicans are making these ultimately inconsequential blunders to divert attention from the greater problems?

That said, the green pool and UFC are good meme template materials to use to raise awareness of said problems.

[–] when@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

If that is so then they are quite successful. Dems supporters are busy on green pond and WH Ufc while core problems like war, genocide, oligarchy, ICE, Epstein files have taken a backseat.

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Have they, or has most of the media gone and talked about those new things and you're also falling for news cycle bias?

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

The Press talking a lot about it doesn't at all deny the possibility that this is a purposeful distraction since any succesful purposeful distraction would require the media to make a circus of it.

Flood The Zone is a real political strategy and it absolutelly relies on the Press picking it up and talking about it instead of whatever they were talking about before, leading to people subconsciously starting treating this new subject as more important and "the thing to be talking about" leading many to amplifying it in social media which is what we've seen here in Lemmy for the past 2 days.

(This probably stands out a lot for those of us here who are not in the US because the press elsewhere doesn't at all talk about it, so the massive number of posts about a fucking pool in Washington in Lemmy just look like a sudden flood under blue skies with not a drop of rain, so with no actual reason, thus it feels made up rather than natural)

What the previous poster wrote and what you wrote about the attention that the media is giving this subject aren't at all inconsistent with each other.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

I don’t think this is true.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago

The whole sudden circus about this stinks of Flood The Zone.

[–] plyth@feddit.org 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Rising awareness is not necessary. The politicians know. That's why the pond and WH UFC are in the news.

The greater problems, how can society solve them without politicians?

[–] Hapankaali@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (6 children)

Wouldn't the kind of person who is involved with organizing solutions to political problems be a politician by definition?

both of those things are distractions by MSM and AI bots from the actual things, BBB and epstein files which bothers trump and his pedo-buddies quite a bit. reddit and msms love to keep pushing whatever gaffes hes putting out.

[–] ltxrtquq@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

BBB

The Better Business Bureau? Where's that acronym bot...

[–] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 weeks ago

It could also be the Big Beautiful Bill (aka Trump Tax Cuts)

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

Hold up. Are you telling me Trump and the right are doing bad things aside from mismanaging a pool and holding a tacky event? That's news to me! /s

Seriously though. Pick what you want if you're going to highlight the corruption and ineptitude and inhumanity and all that; the goal is changing (admittedly, very stupid) minds and what works for some won't work for others. If "look at what they did to our historical in monuments!" convinces some boomer moderate who's all about tradition and history, go for it.

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago

So... You want us to bring back covfefe?

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

The focus on dunking and scoring points with your bodies on social. You get to feel vindicated without anything having to change. Actually messy positive change would be a lot more uncomfortable for some.
