Finally, a non-Mercedes winner to spice things up on the championship! That VSC and pit stop timing for Lewis was just perfect, coming out exactly in front of Russell, amazing.

Audi once again giving us hope but reliability is still one of their enemies. Man, seeing that Hulkenberg pit stop not moving was just sad, was hoping for some points today with those good starting positions.

Oof, sucks for Antonelli and Leclerc.

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 3 points 15 hours ago

I like Kimi but for the sake of the championship table this was amazing. Wide open now!

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 5 points 15 hours ago

Insane timing for Lewis. It's very weird to be saying "Ferrari masterclass" unironically.

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 4 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

That was a good move by Kimi! Finally some proper action.

[โ€“] mysteryname101@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

What happened to Kimis car?

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 2 points 15 hours ago

Some kind of mechanical failure. He also had a broken front wing so maybe he hit something?

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 5 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

When was the last time we had a genuine three-stopper? I know Qatar 2023 was it with the enforced 18 lap limit but was that the last time?

[โ€“] calamitycastle@lemmy.world 4 points 15 hours ago

I can't remember but agree, vanishingly rare

Hope it works!

Manifesting this first Ferrari win for Lewis ๐Ÿ™

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

Perfectly timed pit stop with the VSC. There's hope!

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Wow Antonelli DNF! Out of the blue.

[โ€“] calamitycastle@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Possibly only if you give a fuck about lewis but this has been the best race of the season for me in terms of actual racing, so far (lap 50)

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

The racing has been good but not exactly plentiful. However, I have appreciated the strategy battle. While I'm happy for Lewis getting some luck, I do wish we would have gotten the tense finish we would have gotten without the VSC.

[โ€“] calamitycastle@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I see what you mean but there have been some nice legit overtakes. Definitely more of a tyre race though, you are right

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I mean, most have been just passes due to insane tyre delta and otherwise it's been mostly driving spread out so as to not to kill the tyres. F2 earlier had some actual nice moves though.

[โ€“] calamitycastle@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I thought both f2 races were very decent. Insane delta from camara in the feature. He's the f3 champ for a reason

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I really didn't expect him to be able to nurse those tyres in the feature. And he actually made some moves too (albeit with a huge tyre delta). He is damn fast, but his racecraft has been lacking a bit so far otherwise.

[โ€“] calamitycastle@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I think we will start to see him come in to it now. It was the same with Fornaroli, once he "got it" he was fairly unstoppable. Maybe not in the ultimate form like Piastri was but probably more comfortably dominant than eg Pourchaire or Drugovich were. Drugo had the 1 good engine in his winning season as well, I would argue.

Also nice to see Herta in the mix. Huge risk for him joining f2, given the consequences if he drowns in it (for Indy as well!)

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 1 points 11 hours ago

I mean, I haven't been super impressed by Herta personally. But yeah, Camara is clearly a talent.

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Yellow flag infringement, nooo

[โ€“] mysteryname101@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

No further action.

[โ€“] hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

Oh man wouldn't it be nice to see Mercs take each other out and have Max fight for his life against a Ferrari in Barcelona.

Edit: 10 year anniversary special no less.

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 1 points 16 hours ago

Even if they don't, spending g time fighting just make a HAM win more likely

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk -1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

That's a flop of an ending

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 1 points 15 hours ago

Are you not entertained?
