BYD already has huge markets in countries closely allied to the US too, like Australia, the UK, Japan, South Korea, and some european countries. They surpassed Tesla's sales in Europe last year.
Like with Huawai, the US is going to use "national security" as a talking point to continue begging their allies to stop buying things from China.
Yup, BYD is even opening up in Canada now. The US is going to become a hermit kingdom going forward at this rate.
i've learned recently that the freedom of information act has something like this too. they released some of their files to the public decades ago online and then later re-classify them as national security which enables them to withdraw the files.
and it's funny because it technically means that you're breaking the law (if you're an american) if you read or distribute online version of those files despite them being free available once in the recent past. lol
makes sense, oil is what makes them rich. and their riches themselves are the country's main institution.
the things they claim to be in the name of national security are actually telling.
