The Pentagon is expected to cancel a plan to send Tomahawk missiles to Germany partly because officials are concerned Russia will view it as an escalation, a startling reversal of a long-planned agreement with one of America’s biggest allies.

Russia's winning move it to declare unfair war tactics by the other side before the war starts.

Did you read that? BEFORE the war STARTS. They are going to START a war.

They don't want the other side to be able to defend themselves...WHEN THE WAR STARTS.

War against Germany? Srsly?

[–] lumpyluggage@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Yes, all of Europe disarmed after WW2. We are ripe for the taking and are scrambling to get our shit back together.

[–] Mihies@programming.dev 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We are not that disarmed, plus Russia can't even win over Ukraine and now they are expected to wage a full war against NATO?

[–] sukhmel@programming.dev 1 points 2 days ago

I wouldn't bet on them not being delusional enough, but I do hope it will not happen

France has a nuclear umbrella, if I remember correctly they're the only one in the EU that does, but Britain and Canada are both part of NATO so they contribute to the deterrent.

Also, russia would get wrecked in Poland and the Baltics.

Is this sarcasm? I don't like seeing /s but sometimes it's necessary unfortunately

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

Sorry, no sarcasm here today. Check back after the next presidential election...if there ever is one.

I'd wager the US has blown through way more of their stockpile than anyone expected since they keep throwing munitions ineffectually at Iran. Cancelling the German deal means more capacity to build back their own supply.

[–] IanM42@piefed.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is possibly the real reason. But they’ll never admit that.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There’s no way in hell this little nonsense in Iran lobbing missiles from ships offshore is anywhere near a fraction of a percent of the weapons used in both Iraq and Afghanistan over the last three wars there.

The difference is that the US has almost no manufacturing capabilities anymore.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 8 points 2 days ago

orders coming straight from putin himself, to trump and then petey boy.

[–] Mihies@programming.dev 4 points 2 days ago

One more reason to sewer US dependency and build our own weapons.

“President avoids instantly granting the military industrial complex additional funds.” That’s an ousting. Please be an ousting. Surely negative market performance and sentiments are enough to make this an ousting. I’m on my hands and knees begging for an ousting. Capitalism, capitalize. Please.
