After seeing a bunch of different versions here, I decided to make my own robot vacuum garage.

I used a Zigbee relay on a linear actuator from AliExpress to make a small flap for the vacuum dock. The vacuum lives hidden away, but the door opens automatically when it needs to leave or come back.

The automation watches the vacuum state:

when the vacuum starts running, the door opens

when it starts seeking the charger, the door stays open when it has been docked/charging for 60 seconds, the door closes

Now it works pretty smoothly. Vacuum leaves, door stays open while it cleans, it comes back, docks, waits a bit, and then the garage closes again.

Totally unnecessary, i could just have had that part of the cabinet left open and would not have noticed. Cool AF tho. Bonus point for connected to water inlet and drainage model for mostly handoff maintenance.
