They have beaten every other handheld in the ergonomics. After using it, I can't use any other handheld.

In spite of countless articles at the time littering my feed about the Deck's age, "better" alternatives, and so forth - I bought mine about two years after the initial release. Not one regret. Universal remote for anything I self-host, emulation monster, Cracktorio pipe... It's still easily one of the coolest pieces of kit I own. Glad I got it before now.

Well I mean this article is a complete lie. I can buy one right now in the US.

Probably was marked as sold out for awhile, I've seen at least 4 different websites report on it being sold out earlier today. I'm assuming some of those sites actually verified it showed as sold out online.

What a weird title! ~~Yours, I mean.~~ It's sold out within 24 hours of being made available again after weeks and weeks of not being available. The price hike is just ancillary information.

I just used the current article title.

It is noteworthy that it sold out, despite the price hike. Apparently it's still desirable at that price, although without actual sales numbers it's hard to say for sure.

Ah, so it is. I read the URL and assumed that was the title as it often is.

Ars often has multiple titles for a while before it settles on one. The URL is usually one of the title options.

Steam Deck sells out after Lily Phillips' record breaking sex with 1,113 men in 12 hours

Do you have that factoid tucked away in your brain or did you look it up just for this comment?

It made some rounds on Lemmy 2-3 days ago

Price hike in 2 years incoming.

Also this is going to be the thing every kid wants for Xmas. It's almost exactly the same formula that happened with other fab toys over the years.

If I hadn't already bought one before all this AI-induced production chain ruination, but also knowing what I now know about it and how I've used it, I might still pay those prices for it.
