Update to the original post.

Not to put a damper on things, but if you are reading this on Lemmy and want to donate, please use the direct PayPal link and make a personal transfer. The GoGetFunding site was made so people outside of Lemmy could see and help (and also to show that our need is legitimate). But every donation made through them costs at least 10% to withdrawal. Which method you use to help us is, of course, up to you. Just FYI.

I edited the target amounts on the crowdfunding site to compensate, but that's assuming the total amount is coming in through there (which it already is not) to be on the safe side. The main target of €33,000 is a high ballpark and not an exact amount like the €10,000 (minus any fees) starting cost is.

If the total legal fees end up being less than that, or we end up getting too much money, I will simply pull the plug on it, take down these posts, and issue refunds if necessary.

Thank you all for the help we've been getting, I'm trying to be calm as the original deadline was last week, but it is still possible to make this work if I can get someone to get started ASAP. Please help if you can, we greatly appreciate it.

I appreciate you posting for this child. I really think you can judge people based off of how they treat the most vulnerable in our society, and I think you're good people.

That means a lot to me, thank you. ❤️

I feel like a bit of failure because I couldn’t save the family as a whole. My parents divorced, and before that they clearly stopped loving each other. I didn’t want him to grow up with that. I wanted him to have a whole, loving family but it didn’t work out that way.

But I’ll be damned if I fail him this time.

You're doing what you can under an evil system. Capitalism makes us make a lot of hard choices. There are no storybook heroes under capitalism, just people who are doing the best they can with what they have

You are not a failure. You are a great person.

I think it is very funny and sweet showing a picture of their child running through what seems to be a park.

Yeah, I generally don't like putting children's business online, but I think if you do it's important to show that child in a positive light.

My situation is very unlikely and a bit extreme, but at one point I came across pictures and videos of me being abused and it fucked me up pretty hard.

Edit: Also gonna add, I appreciate it being a picture of his back and not his face
