Square Enix confirmed that the team is hard at work on XII but due to a reshuffle and restart of development, it will be a bit longer before you will be able to play it. After hitting hurdles during development, it was restarted from scratch.

The logo is such a downgrade, I would love to see the last build they had before restarting. The original announcement had me way more interested than this one.

Still, I'm glad there was anything at all to show. It's been 9 years since DQ11. Almost a quarter of the whole 40 years they are supposed to celebrate. Seems like it will take a few more years, given the barebones trailer.

So, they pivoted back from the "world of darkness" to "bright and exciting" future. So, back to status quo, but they do promise lots of things we have never seen in a Dragon Quest game. fingers crossed
