vegan & cruelty-free recable should contain no animal products and is not tested on animals. This also applies to the packaging. BUT: Our cable manufacturer uses stearates as an additive. These are generally derived from plant or animal fats. Unfortunately, we cannot provide information about the origin of the stearates. recable is also RoHS certified. This EU directive prohibits certain toxic substances in electronics. Whether a substance is toxic is determined through tests. The substances covered by RoHS were tested a long time ago โ€“ most likely on animals. Can an animal test become outdated?

So the cables are vegan except for the cables which are unknown!? TBH I don't think they should advertise it like this then.

Yeah, this part killed me. Especially that if they haven't meantioned it I'd never think a cable could be not vegan... So kudos for telling us this, but how can you claim vegan-nes on the same breath?

Why are they talking about a cable manufacturer when they are also saying that they make the cables themselves, except for the actual heads, which they get from China.

That's hilarious. But the animal fat must just be a byproduct of the meat industry that would otherside be wasted? Would it be more respectful to the animal to use all of it and make USB cables out of it instead of wasting its fat? Obviously nobody is raising cattle just to make USB cables.

I can see where youโ€™re coming from. But I do think itโ€™s also an incentive to make money from every โ€˜partโ€™ of the animal. The less thatโ€™s sold apart from the meat, the less profitable it is overall.

In an extreme case of undersupply or price gouging, I'm pretty sure there would be a cable company CEO buying into meat industry just to control the full line of production. They'd call it vertical integration or whatever, and then sell burgers as an afterthought. So yeah, it shouldn't be considered good even if it's just a part of a process or a leftover.

Giving any money to these industries is bad, even if it's a byproduct. If they were donating, it would be a different story.

Ah, yes. Well, I mean, it does clarify in the text:

Our cable is fairly produced in Germany, and the plugs come from fair production in China.

but then:

Our cable manufacturer uses stearates as an additive.

Which implies that they don't manufacture the inner cable/wire and that they only assemble the plugs and wires together. Could do that myself for way cheaper. Except maybe the braided hose thing...

I was going through cables every couple months in my car. Bought a $35 cable and have had it for 3 years now.

I got a 8-10โ‚ฌ Anker cable in 2018 and it finally broke after daily use in 2026.

No, my phone sits high on the dash so it's got a straight drop from there, and cheap ones don't like it.

The whole Page doesn't Sound very convincing. Advertising your product with RoHS and REACH compliance when you are legally obligated to fullfill these regulations.

Also "handcrafted cables": What do you mean? You make each cable by Hand? That would be ridiculous and incredibly ineffective. Look at companies like LAPP Kabel who also operate in Germany to see how its done propperly.

It looks to me like someone is trying to ride the wave of EU alternatives and sustainability, but doesn't actually have a suitable product.
