I don't disagree, but YSK every Republican running for office in the US in 2026 is praying the left abandons the DNC and splits the opposition so they can stay in power another two years.
They didn't make things better when they were handed full control of all three branches of government in 2024. What makes you think they'll do so in 2026 if allowed to keep it?

Well, the pedo nazis who are putting people on trains are just hoping liberals, leftists, whatever we're calling the opposition to them this week, splits the vote. Their voters aren't. There's no, like, "moderate Conservative" party looking to take votes away from Trump and his cronies. All these people who are committed to taking rights away from people of colour, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQ+ are on the same page. Red/R all the way down. Their biggest hope is that people who would vote Democrat, convince people to vote Green or Libertarian or any of the other parties that don't have a real shot, so their guys have a better chance of winning.
I do realise that people have to vote for these other parties to give them a shot, but not enough will. A lot more people who never voted before are gonna come out, and if they all vote Democrat, they have a chance at some real change — at least, in the people who run things. Because if there's no change, it's not like the Republicans are going to give back what they've taken. Rights, inflation, gas prices, they're not gonna stop. There's no olive branch being offered. No one's saying there is.
I'm not saying give all the power to the Democrats. The Democrats have done plenty of fucky shit — I'm saying, balance the power back toward the middle. Trump will still hold the Executive branch of the government. He's stacked the Supreme Court in his favour. That's Judicial. Let the Democrats take Congress. They'll still be opposed by the other two branches, but they will be able to balance out the power. They might even be able to impeach Trump again.
Neither side cares about you or me. But we've seen how much worse it is when one side runs unchecked. It's not good.

Fair point. From what I'm reading on the Beeb, the GOP is trying to redraw district maps to disenfranchise Black voters. That's probably not the stated reason, but if it's the end result, I'm sure it went into the decision making process somewhere along the lines. I don't think members of the GOP are or aren't racist, as in "there are some that may not be racist." I think some just use the hard R and the others don't.
