UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
He hasn't pulled the pin on the leadership grenade yet. If he doesn't do it soon he will be seen as just talk.
I don't think he has the numbers to do it, imagine not being able to able to find 80 MPs to support you against Starmer
And he certainly doesn't have the numbers with the members vote, his best bet is for Burnham and Rayner to split the vote.
The leadership contest uses ranked preference voting. There's no vote-splitting.
Feels like there's an intentional delay to get Burnham in now as well.
Probably been told to hold off at the cost of burning political capital
Knowing Wes he would only do that if he knows he can't win himself. He leaked he was sending in his letter so he had to do it when he did but the actual next step was missing so now he loses all momentum
It becoming obvious that we'd be looking at a leader handover if Burnham won.
He'll do it, he's insanely ambitious despite being one of the few potential Labour leaders who'd be even worse than Starmer.
Oh God, he even fucking looks like a twat. No, thank you.
