This is exactly who you voted for.

It just didn‘t matter to you because he was shitting on poor people, minorities, foreigners, disabled people, smart people, etc. He on more than one occasion made offhand comments about how stupid he thought his voters were. He has repeatedly made financial deals to serve himself, and repeatedly made geopolitical moves that do nothing but harm America and its citizens.

But you what…ignored that? You licked the boot and kissed the ring! He couldn‘t possibly be ignoring your particular needs?

If the Democrats had any sense, they'd run that clip in ads for Democrats in every race later this summer.

They won't, but they should.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 147 points 4 days ago (16 children)

This is not the same man I voted for

Yes the fuck it is.

[–] guillem@aussie.zone 69 points 4 days ago (3 children)

And half the world has been telling him since 2016.

[–] foodandart@lemmy.zip 35 points 4 days ago

This is definitely the same man you voted for lol

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 10 points 3 days ago

He's just realised Trump hates him as much as the people he hates.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

This is exactly what they voted for.

They are just hurt that its affecting them.

If everything happened the same way, without affecting them, they'd still be cheering it.. because they cheer anything that hurts the "right" people.. I.E. people that arent them.

[–] Bieren@lemmy.today 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This won’t have any affect on them. If anything they will call it fake news. His base will fight each other to change this man’s diaper.

[–] HalfSalesman@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I think it will over time and has. There are explicit examples of it. The problem is that the ones who will be moved against him are not doing it from a change of heart.

They're still selfish, hateful, and greedy. Its just eventually they reach a point where Trump doesn't serve them in a way that sates those sociopathic traits. They're upset that their shitty political project has hurt them, not that its hurt anyone at all.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 48 points 4 days ago (3 children)

the pedophilia was OK, the bombing little girls was OK, sending masked goons to disappear brown people by the thousands was OK. but groceries went up a bit and now they have a spine?

they are the scum of the earth, and the world will begin to heal once they have their funeral

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago

They literally don't care unless something affects them directly, and even then they'll have more benefit of the doubt for the convicted pedo rapist than anyone else

Also just to OP point, never in his life did he demonstrate any care at all about regular people. That's why trump can just say that, it's always been true he's never tried to pretend it wasn't and these people are fucking stupid if they think he's saying something new.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 days ago

We must never forget that this is who they are inside. When establishment Dems try to pull the "now it's the time for healing and unity" shit, talk about turning the other cheek and other inappropriate nonsense, we'll all know no one is letting this go. Ever.

[–] ZeroCool@piefed.ca 53 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Perhaps this will finally make them wake up

Unfortunately it didn't. Conservatives were immediately telling each other that "it wasn't that bad and tHe RaDiCaL lEfT were just taking it out of context." But as is often the case, the context does not make it any better.

[–] Jack@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

"Not even a little bit. The only thing that matters when I’m talking about Iran—they can’t have a nuclear weapon. I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody. I think about one thing—we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That’s all." - Donald Trump, military.com, USA Today

He's a narcissistic psychopath who chose to break the Iran deal, but the context shows that preventing a nuclear-armed Velâyat-e Faqih is more important.

Also, “It’s what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, […] you’re going to get selfish, ignorant leaders.” – George Carlin, YouTube

The group whose identity is hating those they perceive as beneath them are shocked to find the man above them hates them.

[–] Garbagio@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

Nah, the unspoken truth is that they know he hates them and they like it. They hate themselves for being poor as much as they hate everyone else. That's what MAGA is built on: For every rich prick that is prioritizing their own business interests, there are a hundred thousand myopic fucks who know that they have failed under the current socioeconomic system, and believe wholeheartedly that they would rise to the top if we could reset to a more violent system. The only reason he's losing support now is that his supporters are finding out in real time that they still fucking suck in their preferred system, or at best they're malding "NooOOoo, you were supposed to break it all in the way I fantasized myself succeeding, not like this!!!"

[–] kokesh@lemmy.world 42 points 4 days ago (4 children)

He is exactly the same man those lowlifes voted for.

[–] Dryad@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

This. He’s been the exact same since before the first term. If the access Hollywood tape wasn’t enough to push you away from him, then it’s not a moral issue. You bought the hate. Don’t chicken out now just because his asinine vitriol is starting to hurt you a bit. That feels a lot like seeing the ship has sprung some leaks and trying to get on the lifeboat before permanently getting stuck on the wrong side of history.

"It was finally after trump cut off the baby's head and drank it's blood live on TV that I started to think 'Hey, I may have backed the wrong guy'". Meanwhile, your inner quiet voice said, 'let's wait and see'.

[–] Crackhappy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

It doesn't matter what he says or does. Clearly.

[–] mimavox@piefed.social 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This is exactly the same guy you voted for.

There is no waking up.

They WANT a Christofascist nation. They want it bad enough that they are willing to deal with a born rich felon rapist pedophile who doesn't care about them to get it.

To them ALL MEANS JUSTIFY THE END.

It's not an issue of waking up. It's an issue of wanting what they want no matter what. They'll occasionally whine that they aren't getting what they want the way they thought they'd get it, but they're not going to deviate from the path they've chosen.

These are not just confused people. These are BAD people.

[–] BranBucket@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

"Things will get better when we bring about God's kingdom on Earth", etc. etc. yadda, yadda.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 22 points 4 days ago

The speed which he turned on that reporter too that asked about the double cost of the ballroom.

That aggressiveness is seen in dementia patients.

[–] Th4tGuyII@fedia.io 26 points 4 days ago (3 children)

What?! The crooked conman (who literally embezzled his own children's charity) doesn't actually care about the wellbeing of the citizens under his care??

Seriously, how often does he have to openly and blatantly betray his voterbase before they get the hint that maybe what he's telling them is bullshit?

[–] Naich@piefed.world 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He could get every single Maga hat wearing simpleton, line them up, personally shoot every 3rd one in the head, and the other two would be going "oh, good choice, sir."

Again, they can't wake up without professional therapy measured in years. This is an identity cult.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (12 children)

Democrats are polling 14% higher than Republicans nationally. That is rig-proof, bloodbath territory if it holds until November, and there's nothing to suggest it won't, as Donald's dementia is evidently getting worse and he is not going to end the war in Iran without a PR victory that Iran refuses to give him.

People are (and have been) waking up.

Now if only we could find more than two Democrats who actually have any intention of doing something different and actually opposing things...

No Eric. You knew. Stop pretending.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 12 points 4 days ago

I voted for the pedophile rapist that shit his pants. WHAT IS HAPPENING?

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (3 children)

I think current day USians might be the most propagandized population in history. No amount of facts can make a dent in a brainwashed person's belief, pride and ignorance.

Wake up?? That would make me woke!!

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

Nah.. you get the occasional MAGAt that is brave enough to face their mistakes, but 99% of cases won't. Their pride and MAGA identity is more important to them than destroying the world around them.
