1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of “discuss” rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This isn't an advice forum

Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with “So” - starting a post with pointless phrases, like “I hope this is allowed” or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

Hurt my shoulder playing softball and the physio suggested a bunch of exercises, increasing the weight by 1 pound a day. We're on day/pound 3 now. No idea what I'll use tomorrow but that's a whole different day's problem!

Water is reasonably dense. One gallon is a little over 8 pounds, so that buys you a few more days. After that you'd need to move to something like sand, but I assume at some point you'll stop needing to increase the weight. 90 lbs shoulder exercises after 3 months body builder territory.

Good thoughts and I actually used water in smaller jars for days 1 and 2. My issue is finding things large enough to hold the requisite amount of water (without spilling it all over myself.)

But yeah, I've only got to get to 7 days and then we're hoping my shoulder should be back to full mobility so I can go back to real exercises.

In that case, maybe canned soup (or beans) in grocery bags?

Ooooh, that's an interesting one! I hadn't considered using a bag to hold several smaller things...! I think you've just solved days 4+!

I expect future posts from you showing how you've used them as pie weights and then cooked them.

Ooooh boy, I guess I gotta learn how to bake first. But a bunch of weird looking hummus posts just wouldn't quite be the same...

I recommend "potaje de garbanzo" (Cuban chickpea stew) for the chickpeas. Not sure what kind the other beans are.

As for learning to bake, the main thing to know is that the use-case for pie weights is blind-baking (pre-baking before filling is added) a flaky pie crust ("shortcrust"). Keep the ingredients cold and don't overwork it, and you'll be fine. Also remember that savory things like chicken pot pies are options too, not just sweet.

I had never heard of potaje de garbanzo but goddamn, that looks super tasty and up my alley! I will absolutely make some, thank you!

Hummus would be denser right? Maybe that's your day 4?

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 2 points 4 days ago

I'm not sure but now I'm super curious and tempted to try!

Don't you waste those chick peas now! Them things is deloucious!

Also wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks! And believe me, I don't waste chickpeas! (Nicely discerned by the way!)

They are delicious and cruelty free protein and with how much chicken I eat, well, it seems fair to try and have more non murder protein too.

And thanks for the wishes!
