Looks like mold to me. May not have been stored at proper temperature for the whole distribution channel. Take it back to the grocery store and/or contact the manufacturer.

Accidents will always happen, I wouldn't stress too much but I'd keep an eye on future tubs. Maybe see if the company has changed hands/directors and is using cheaper production.
Just opened another one with the same mold, so something’s up.
I did just notice the expiration date is only on the lid… which can easily be swapped, since there’s foil underneath. Not sure what went wrong here (they both have the same expiration date) but feels like a stupid place to put the date regardless.
Looks like a Penicillium species, a very common colonist of yogurt (and lots of other foods). It definitely shouldn't be eaten, get a refund for that furry yogi!
