Looks like mold to me. May not have been stored at proper temperature for the whole distribution channel. Take it back to the grocery store and/or contact the manufacturer.

That worries me, since I eat this yogurt a lot 😭 I’ll see if I can find their contact info

Accidents will always happen, I wouldn't stress too much but I'd keep an eye on future tubs. Maybe see if the company has changed hands/directors and is using cheaper production.

Just opened another one with the same mold, so something’s up.

I did just notice the expiration date is only on the lid… which can easily be swapped, since there’s foil underneath. Not sure what went wrong here (they both have the same expiration date) but feels like a stupid place to put the date regardless.

Looks like a Penicillium species, a very common colonist of yogurt (and lots of other foods). It definitely shouldn't be eaten, get a refund for that furry yogi!

Is that the sort one could use to treat an infection?

Probably not! I don't know enough to say for sure what the process from fuzz to medicine looks like 😅

I can only tell you from the taste. Please update when you have the info.

What the meme about vegans always finding a way to tell you they are vegan?

[–] affeneimer@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

They didn't. Just said the yoghurt was vegan. Must be your conscience

I'm not a mycologist but my guess is Trichoderma
