I've been using blockinger from F-Droid, not sure howqq compatible that is though...

I cannot find it in f-droid. However on gitlab i can: https://lucasborer1.gitlab.io/fdroid-website/en/packages/org.blockinger.game/
Edit: i am not sure if this is actually the right thing, links to f-droid dont really work.
Looks like the right thing..
Ah you just reminded me, I remember Tttris / Titris being one of the better free open source Tetris clones on Android way back. No ads, no need to be online, just a good standalone Tetris clone for Android. I still have the old .apk, might be the same as the last one published to F-Droid https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.seavenois.tetris/ but like you said eventually stopped being updated & isn't compatible with current Android phones nowadays.
Now you got me thinking about this again, wish I had a good suggestion. Will be following this post, maybe other people know about some other good ones.

This is great! And it's been around since June of last year! How did I miss this? Think it might be because I should've searched for "block" rather than "tetris" on F-Droid.
Why do you want play this specific variant of Tetris? Just to provide alternatives, another Open Source Tetris for Android:
- https://github.com/ddhhhkj/tetris-android last updated a year ago
- https://devsnap.me/javascript-tetris-games bunch of Tetris clones with JavaScript, meaning they should run in the browser. I did not test any, but maybe you get something working.
- emulate an old console to play Tetris

That's interesting, not sure that I trust an AI coded game enough to load onto my phone. But it is amusing seeing an AI project using the copyright "Tetris" name, most human coders aren't brave enough to re-use the name itself. But AI is gonna AI I guess.
Oh no! I didn't notice it was written by or with Ai. I've just looked into bunch of links and just quick scanned the pages. Well, if I noticed it, I wouldn't have included. But, uh, well, there it is.
There's also Apotris if you wanted something for running on other hardware (e.g. Steam Deck or Retroid)
Yes. I've been playing apotris on my r36s clone and its my favorite version of Tetris ever.
"Block drop" seems nice
I use techmino for my tetris needs but it's not in F-Droid, but I think there's a tetris clones wiki somewhere out there that is also available on android, currently there's only blockdrop in f-droid, which is.. i haven't looked into it much, but it seems to not be my thing, at least when compared to techmino.
